Energy systems play a significant role in harvesting energy from several sources and converting it to the forms needed for applications numerous sectors, e.g., utility, industry, building, transportation. In coming years, storage will key an efficient renewable future; more than does today’s fossil-based economy. There are different strategies storage. Among these strategies, of mechanical via suitable media is broadly utilized by human beings. Mechanical (MESS) among utmost effective sustainable systems. three main types systems; pumped hydro, flywheel, compressed air. This review discusses recent progress focusing on air (CAES). It also advances evolution (CAES) technologies which improve thermal process incorporate CAES with other subsystems system efficiency compares terms their performance, capacity, response, utilizations as well challenges facing emissions that may harm environment, consumption fossil fuels or requiring certain geological formations then modifications developments overcome challenges.
